Getting Started with Your Tech Gadgets(Laptop)
Welcome to CJ Tech! If you've just purchased a new laptop and aren’t sure where to begin, this guide is for you. Whether you're a first-time user or just need a refresher, we’ll walk you through the essential steps to get started.
✅ Step 1: Unbox and Inspect
Carefully remove your laptop and accessories from the box.
Ensure you have the charger, documentation, and any included accessories.
Check for any physical damage
? Step 2: Charge Your Laptop
Plug the charger into a power outlet and connect it to your laptop.
Allow it to charge for at least 30–60 minutes before first use (you can use it while it charges).
Step 3: Power On and Initial Setup
Press the Power button.
Follow the on-screen instructions to:
Choose your language and region
Connect to your Wi-Fi
Set up a user account (name, password, etc.)
Sign in with or create a Microsoft/Apple/Google account (based on your OS)
Accept terms and conditions.
Step 4: Connect to the Internet
You’ll be prompted to connect to Wi-Fi during setup.
If you skipped it:
On Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi
On Mac: Go to System Settings > Wi-Fi
Select your network and enter the password.
Step 5: Install Updates & Security Tools
Your laptop may need to install system updates.
On Windows: Go to Settings > Windows Update
On Mac: Go to System Settings > Software Update
Install antivirus software (Windows Defender is built-in, but you can add more).
Set up a firewall and enable automatic updates for protection.
Step 6: Install Essential Software
Web browser (e.g., Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox)
Office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
Cloud storage (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive)
Communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Slack, Teams)
You can find most of these by searching in your app store or visiting their official websites.
